The relentless pursuit of business excellence doesn’t have to be compromised during this seemingly never-ending pandemic, but is it time for a rethink? A year into home working and virtual workforces, it’s time to review effective leadership from the kitchen table. We’ve all learnt how to share our screens in Zoom and develop new online ways of managing projects with tools like Conceptboard and Basecamp. But how are we all really doing? ‘Surviving, not thriving’ seems to be the theme of Lockdown 3.0 and leaders need to act now to support themselves and their flagging workforce.
During a recent Speed Coaching Check-In, a business leader said to me: “I feel like a rabbit caught in the headlights. We’ve been so focused on business survival and operational issues, the thought of moving back to more strategic thinking is overwhelming at the moment.” She’s found that working from home during the pandemic has blurred the boundaries between work and home. Without the commute to the office, she is missing valuable “decompression time” which gave space and time to reorganise her thoughts and plan her next steps.
Whilst we wait for the P.M. to publish his roadmap out of lockdown, business leaders need to focus on helping their workforce build resilience ready to transition forward towards whatever Summer 2021 and beyond may bring.
Speed Coaching Check-Ins
This is where Speed Coaching Check-Ins can help. The half hour commute to work is replaced with a half hour coaching session. During these short, weekly calls I will help you reorganise your thoughts and ensure you are focusing on immediate priorities, whilst also planning for future possibilities.
The Check-Ins can take place over Zoom or by telephone. I also offer longer face-to-face, socially distanced check-ins, where a walk in the great outdoors is the perfect environment for creative thinking.
If you’d like to find out more about how I might be able to help you reprioritise your thinking, get in touch and book in for half hour Speed Coaching Check-In.
